St Mary’s—located at 1001 S Goliad (by Big Spring High School)—invites you join to us in worship and in the celebration of Holy Eucharist every Sunday at 10:30am.
We are a traditional Anglican-Episcopal parish joining together the best elements of Catholicism and the Reformation: combining the faithful study of Holy Scripture with the rich symbolism of the Sacraments (like Baptism and Holy Eucharist/Communion) and representing both historical connection with the great common tradition of the Christian faith and a form of worship accessible to people today. Every Sunday we worship using an ancient, reverent, intimate, and beautiful liturgy in the Anglican tradition (from the Book of Common Prayer) that incorporates both Word and Sacrament in a classic form that Christians have used for centuries. We welcome all baptized Christians to join us in partaking of Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper as our brothers and sisters in Christ. Those who are not yet baptized or who are seeking or just curious are welcome to join us in worship any Sunday!
St Mary’s has been a part of the community of Big Spring since 1885 and has (since the ‘60s) worshiped in a beautiful building designed by noted modernist architect Harwell Hamilton Harris and modeled after medieval monasteries.
Every week Fr Christopher Simpson also leads daily (M-Th) Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer in our chapel and on our YouTube channel. It consists of hearing the Bible read and praying the Psalms and the prayers of the church. It takes about 20 minutes and is a great way to start the day!
